I'm sure this has been covered before. A friend of mine bought a C250 about a month ago. We took it out this weekend in some good wind, 15 to 20 mph with higher gust. The leading edge of the sail started tearing so we rolled it up and headed in. Now we are faced with the removal of the sail with the boat in the water. It probably isn't that tough, but having never done it before, I'm hoping for some secrets!!! Thanks for the help!!!
Terry, you posted this in the C250 forum, no big deal, but you'll get better responses to the question if you post it into the C25 forum.
having said that , is it a CDI furler. If so it's easy. At the drum you'll see a line that should pass a couple of times from the sail tack back to the drum. This is the end of the line that goes up the furler, over a sheave and to the head of the sail. This line is the furler halyard.
have a 'messenger' line ready to tie to the end of the furler halyard.
Unfurl the sail, and then untie the furler halyard and you'll notice that it enters the groove on the front of the fuler. Secure the messenger to the end of the furler haylard and then start to pull the sail down. The messenger will travel up the outside of the furler. When the head of the sail is within reach, make sure you untie the end of the furler halyard from the head of the sail and secure it. You'll use that to pull the sail up after repair.
Thanks Paul, that is some what what I was thinking but since I have never done it while the boat was floating I just needed some one to tell me. Not sure if I posted wrong or not, the boat we're doing this to isn't mine. It belongs to a friend and is a C250 model. Either way thanks for the info, I'm sure it will go some what smooth.
