MY 1980 C25 HULL #2013 HAS CANTED STANCHIONS. ONE IS DAMAGED AND MUST BE REPLACED. CATALINA DIRECT SOLD ME A STANCHION WITH OUT THE CANTED BASE. THEY SAID THE CATALINA 25 WAS NEVER MADE WITH CANTED STANCHIONS. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF AN ALTERNATE SOURCE FOR CANTED STANCHIONS 22 INCHES HIGH FOR ONE LIFE LINE? DOES ANYONE HAVE A FIX TO USED THE CATALINA DIRECT REPLACEMENT?

Hi There Henn. Welcome to the forum. I suggest you turn off your caps, as without them you will get more replies.

I know of a welder in St. Catarines Ontario (Canada) who is making aftermarket stanctions. I can try to get his name and address for you if it would be helpful. You may be able to send him the broken stanction to get a new one made up. Sadly I am headed to the coast for the next few days, and can't get his contact info for you for at least a week.

Maybe you can get a hold of this guy. He's parting out a C25.

Catalina Direct also sells stantions made at 6 degree and 10 degree slant ( I was just looking at them the other day for a Catalina 27). You may want to get on the website and look for those. If you can estimate the slant on yours, you could go back to CD and have them send you the right one. CD is very helpfull, but sometimes the order gets mixed up. We got Cat 22 gudgeons when we ordered new replacements for our 25, and had to send them back for the correct ones. They were good about the exchange.

West Marine has stanchion bases that are canted at the correct angle. They also have 22 inch stanchions that fit the base. I just did all of mine.

I had just one canted stanchion as it lifted the 250lb forward deck crew back on deck after a knock down during a race. It did re-straighten and you would have to guess which one was bent back. We kept our lead and won the race.
