We had a big wind with gusts last night and it pushed a bunch of big waves straight up the river. It bounced the boat around quite a bit.
The gusts also heeled the boat substantially, with bare poles, and pushed it up against the dock.
I was out there in the boat for a while on the dock and things were bouncing around pretty good, but it didn't seem all that bad. Winds were 25-30 kts with gusts to 45 at one point.
This morning I came down to see what might have happened, and didn't see any problems until I noticed that the stanchions holding on the port side rear rail were bent over by about 30 degrees.
It could have gotten caught under the dock, especially with the waves and heeling. I also lost the life ring and broke the white "tail light" running light, plus I lost my 8" fender.
So, now I'm in search of (a) a new rear rail. I thought a member was parting out a C25 - would this part happen to be available?
I'm also in search of (b) any advice on how to bend it back to straight?
Is it necessary to heat the stainless to bend it? Will it break if it is bent cold? The tube is kinked, and I know this has to be handled specially. The stanchion bases are also bent, but I think a hammer would take care of that.
Suggestions? I've got all winter to sort it out.
