Redeye, don't feel bad!

I'd rather actually BE ON the boat than playing this silly game. But since the REAL Bus is on the hard wrapped in a tarp, I'll have to settle for this! :)

Oh great, and we wonder why the sailing community doesn't take the C-25ers seriously...Fenders in front of 100k boats - not a professional look!! Besides, Fenders probably cost 2000 credit units

This morning in a 50 minute period according to each 10 minute update I should have moved up approx 12,000 places yet my ranking only moved about 8,000 places when looking at teh bottom of the display. At one point I gained 3,315 places based on what the 10 minute refresh screen displayed but my position at the bottom of the screen only changed about 800 places.

Can someone give me an update on my position now? I'm at work and can't check myself. Sanger is my boat.

I should never had taken that second north tack. I am getting stronger wind then anyone else, though.

Now you are making us jealous. We are getting 8-12 inches of snow today, there is no sleeping on the boat for a while. Enjoy your night while the snowbirds watch the shifts like a hawk.

What is your boat name?

My boat is named "Leaky". Virtual is Bailusout. I have water on the brain. Grlfrnd claims we will have to rename her before we sell her.

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">Here's what I'm seeing in the 12/19 1100 (0500 EST) winds:

7N 91E Cur=052@14.6 12h=[065-070est]@14.0
7N 92E Cur=[055est]@13.5 12h=[070est] @14.0

Wind speeds are a little different where you are (a litte S of me), but switching between the 0h and 12h winds shows a R shift of about 10-15'.

Is your wind forecast different?

So I did some math on the Straits of Singapore. At it's narrowest of 1.5 miles, 417 boats could fit through at one time if they were beam to beam, and wind shadows didn't count (which they don't in this game). At 10kn, it would take nearly 17 hours for the entire fleet to pass through, and that assumes bow to stern, beam to beam, all moving at exactly the same speed. I wonder how the game devs will handle that?

Assumptions and roundings:
19' beam
100k boats
1kn=17'/sec
1.5 miles wide at strait
simple line across the narrowest point.

...I need a job...

Lepak, you do need a job:)

I've noticed the calcs on the message of how many places you've gained aren't always up to date with the last login- sometimes they lag behind and show more gains than the difference in numbers on the bottom right corner.

Sanger, I went too far north too- so I thought at first. But now to make lemonade out of lemons, I'm going as high as I can around Sumatra and try to stay in the much stronger wind from the NE, rather than the light E wind nearer the shore. I just hope the forecast is right!

That 5.pm was a righty....

Are you going to make the mark from there paul? its kind of nice not having to worry about slippage and to know what your wind is going to be in the future. From my vantage, even with a good lift off the minor shift back to the left you will either have to pinch or cut it very close.

If it weren't for that computer issue last night, I'd either be right up there with you or be searching for a different excuse.

<s>6:41am here, no wind update, still showing same as 23:00. It should be showing 11:00 or is </s> it too early in the morning for me?

And here's a thought.
Looking at the position of #1 (JJFlash right now) she is ~20nm south of the pin and will have to tack up to round the pin, #4(Amused to Death right now) can prossibly make the mark without a tack as she is less than a mile south of the mark. So the #4 boat is closer to the best course than the #1 and will certainly get around the mark earlier unless they screw up.

Soooo, the position appears to be based on the distance from the finish as the crows fly. I will discregard the position from the gitgo on the next leg.

Yes, the distance is measured in a straight line from the finish. That's why it may appear you're ahead but if you use a compass centered on the finish line and draw the arc you will see the truth.

Ten minutes ago I was 10,843rd. The screen refreshed and said I'd gained 501 places. Now I'm in 10,740.

Am I missing something in the way this game works?

<i>Update, 10 minutes later 579 places gained now in 10,662?</i>

If you do an actual screen refresh on your browser it will likely work. It seems to get stuck on an old place sometimes even though it is doing the ten minute update.

Now, I am waiting for the header that the leaders got in order to tack up to the layline. :(

Darnit I`m not aground anymore but still at the same spot. I`m supposed to be going about 10 knots and still at the same spot I was at 45 minutes ago. I guess I lost hope of wining this one now.

And you are blocking my view!!!!

If you are aground, you have to turn 90º from the shoreline to get off.
In your case I think you need to take on a heading of about 180º

Yes I had to turn all the way back 180 degrees. I`m at 2715 now and back in the race. I was almost aground for 2 hours!

I took a big gamble and tried to hug the buoy as much as possible to just zip by. Lost by bet.
