Just imagine if this was real, and you were 800 miles off Australia, and broke a leg working on the foredeck... It happened. The French Navy just rescued the guy after a <i>few days</i> out there.
I sailed into a hole overnight. Guess I should have stayed up to play...
At no zoom level did my UI ever display the mark (I had to figure it out from the SIs). Is there a button you guys are using to show that? I've tried boats on and boats off, too.
Any chance I could get you to do a screen shot like this for Sanger. I'm at work today and trying to guide my wife on making my course changes over the phone. It sounds like I'm in a hole and I need to get out before I run aground.
There should be a law against these cruel and addictive online games!!!

I never saw it either Steve....after 12 hours of sitting on the rocks - (combination of sleep, skiing and church...and more skiing) I finally was able to free myself. What really kills me is that prior to knowing the game, my initial plan was to run about he course of the current leader and probable winner.
That's usually how it goes on the real race course too...just goes to show that you can't let the little things allow you to deviate off the game plan.
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by Champipple</i> <br />What really kills me is that prior to knowing the game, my initial plan was to run about he course of the current leader and probable winner.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">The problem with that theory, if you look at who the leaders were crossing the IO, none of them are in the hunt now. Yeah, they were "closest" to the finish during the crossing, but the folks that went N had more pressure and a better angle down the mark. Look at where Avocado was, and where he is now (nice job!!).
Gary, It looks like you've tacked already, so let me know if you need another screen shot. I feel like I'm in a Heinlein novel.
Avocado's skipper and crew was out partying the holidays away last night, and after allowing her to sail into a hole and grabbing the tiller in a rash wild drunken frenzy, we have woken up with a headache and a 1000 places back of where we should be. Damn that beer and holiday cheer.
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by britinusa</i> <br />Data is off again, this normally leads to substantial updates.
Note Avocados distance from the finish.
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> That actually looks fairly accurate. Avacado is kicking but since the mark.
I encouraged him to join the crew in cocktails again tonight and that we would watch his boat :)
Someone has to pile up on the rocks to catch these leaders.
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by britinusa</i> <br />Look again George! Avocado is listed as fist and as 2205!!!! (I'm back with the peanut gallery at 16,000!) <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">
Sometimes it gives standings of only your friends. So those results are relative.
The leaders finished during the night and Avacado looks like she can finish today.
Got the crew up early to trim the sails for the drop in wind
Just got this msg from the VOR team <blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">The position of the finishing bouy is 103.37 E - 1.05 N<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">
Now you can use the lat and long calculator to figure out your distance from the bouy for real!
I'm getting my butt kicked up by Port Dickson, I barely made any progress over night. My friend Chris moved up thousands of places over night, guess it comes down to being in the right place at the right time when the wind changes.
Just to let you know, if you guys see my boat run ashore, and stay there, it's probably because I dropped out. I don't want anyone thinking I clutched my chest and suffered a myocardial infarction at the keyboard.
Every time the game refreshes, my boat goes off course, and I have to bring it back on course. When I try to validate and set the course, I get a message that "Le serveur est indisponsible." I'll give it a few more minutes, but if it doesn't resolve itself, so I can get away from the keyboard and take care of pre-Christmas stuff, I'll drop out. I hate to do that, because at the moment, Gambit Cat 25 and I are neck and neck in a thrilling duel, but he's tough as heck, and will probably beat me anyway, and I'm not going to sit here all today and all night correcting my course every 10 minutes while the boat is sailing 3.6 kts!
If I drop out, I'll probably be back in the next segment, if it starts after Christmas.
