Sometime a refresh (F5) will correct that, sometimes it takes a logoff/logon. The period after the 1700ET wind update, anything goes. I've always had issues getting updates for anywhere between 5min and 45m after that.
Spent most of the afternoons in meetings, and now trying to find out if I've run aground with Steve, or if I'm still cruising along...
The waters here are under the shadow of the mountains off to stbd and the lowland forests to port. Easy sailing but a bit crowded. We have 144 miles to go to the finish circle, but ahead of us are nearly 17,000 boats, that's about 118 boats per mile! we could probably walk to the finish line from here
Off our stbd quarter we can see the Leepak with her code zero sail up on an almost parrallel course to us and a thousand other boats.
Wind is expected to change slightly over the next 24 hours, so both of us should finish before lunch tomorrow. Not sure if Rita onboard Lard Butt will be in town for at least another day, but that should give the rest of us time to clean up, we're all hoping that Dave and Rita will act as tour guides in Singapore.
Many years since my last visit, and nearly 40 years since my first, so things will have changed immensely. And it will be crowded with sailors, there are nearly 100,000 boats down there. No wonder the finish is a 30mile circle! Definitely not enough dock space!
See you there!
Paul
(I'm way way too much into this! )
ps. I wonder if there are any C25/250/Capris in the area?
Paul, Nice write up. I think Lepak is living up to her namesake & taking the slacker route to S'pore. Rita's determined to not be last into her hometown, and is looking forward to seeing her family in port. Lard Butt's living up to her namesake as well, our 12 year old chocolate lab is definitely slowing down, although she was bouncing like a bunny through hip deep snow yesterday, so I guess she's got some kick in her yet.
I got to wondering if 100k+ boats would even fit inside a 30nm circle, but indeed they do, with lots of room to spare. So then I wondered how many would fit into the sector most of us are likely to make our approaches from, but still tons of room, at least at the 30 mile mark, but starting to get crowded. Once we got close to S'pore, you'd definitely want fenders & boat hooks out and we'd be dodging all the commercial traffic. Looking out into the roads from the tip of S'pore all you see are freighters.
I'd be honored to start the L4 thread. That is very kind. We'll do it the day of the L4 start. I'll be watching intently the remaining battles down the striaght as I help my sons get thier boats into Singapore. Avocado Out.
Hah, so much for my theory, guess if they think you've abandoned the boat they can too. Wonder if they'll start it for leg 4 or just let it languish in SE Asia.
I can't log on to make any changes anyway, someone hijacked that email account & tried to steal my Ebay account with it. They actually got an auction going but somehow Ebay figured it out & shut them down. What a pain it was to get that straightened out with Ebay, but they make it hard on purpose so you can't just steal someone's account I guess. They're keeping mum on how they did, but I've since changed my logon & password on everything that's important. I'm pretty sure the email hijackers simply did a Palin on me & guessed my password reset stuff.
If my experience with "SL on AP" is any benefit, your boat will be fine till you get to it. You may not be on the best track in the world, but you'll be somewhere in the pack.
