The timing for this is perfect....don't make it any earlier and I can finally make one of these races. My school year ends the Friday before so I hope the race weekend is this one or later. Thanks. I will sign up....
I encourage anyone who is even slightly interested in coming to race OR crew to pre-register. This includes Skippers, i.e. those with boats, and those without boats and wanting to crew. Please note that we are not asking crew that are already attached to a boat to register - just those who coming 'unattached' and looking for a boat to crew on. You may not even need to crew for all the races...
Pre-registering simply adds your name to the email list that we will use to keep everyone abreast of the developments and other updates etc. The pre-registration form also asks some other questions that will help us plan better (e.g with the various restaurants and the yacht club and the marina hotel how many people we think will be coming so we are prepared).
Pre-registration is free and does not obligate you to anything. The link to the pre-reg form is in Russ' post above.
I would love to register although when I went to register, it would not take my address, no big deal on the address - just a normal one - any thoughts..
I just registered SL for the race. I noticed there are no categories for C250, no wing, water or tall rigs just C250. Dunno if that's important or not?
Hopefully we can make it, my friend Chris has already volunteered to crew for us, and we should be able to talk his girl friend into it as well.
There are fewer C250's than C25's. So in past regattas, there was only one category for C250's. If there are enough C250's this year, then we may need separate categories.
Thanks Russ. The elder boy, now 12, and I have done the ditch run the last three years. He kind of expects it. I told him about the nationals and didn't know if they were the same week end. He opted for the nationals. I don't have a spinny and my sails are the same age as the boat, except the jib. He tells me I'm too slow and likes to race on an express at our local lake.
Matt L.: Are you a member of the Stockton Sailing Club? My sister-in-Law lives near March Lane real close to that club. My wife's parents live over in Walnut Creek. Our son lives/works in Palo Alto and our daughter will be getting a job in the area soon (we hope!!). And my wife and I will be moving somewhere up there (we're now in SoCal) after we retire (June 2010). I've looked at Berkley, Richmond, Benecia,Valejo, Alameda, Folsom, Hidden Harbor, and Stockton marinas/clubs as potential places to sail our C25 from in the future. Hope this regatta goes off as planned as I'd sure like to talk to people as to the best location to live and park the boat for racing/cruising. I'm sure everyone has an opinion. I'm hauling our boat out of San Diego () but I haven't sailed it much lately (job=) and I'd like to begin prepping to trailer it up to Berkley. Working on the trailer today. Haul next Saturday. Looking forward to meeting and chatting. Sure like the Delta Ditch run. Wish I could but teaching prevents. Later.
I have been very busy at work, so I sorry it took so ling to reply. There are 9 skippers that have expressed interest on the registration site. http://a3.acteva.com/orderbooking/go/c25regatta
Thanks, Russ. Nine boats sounds like a good beginning. Our boat comes out of the water tomorrow morning and from this point on I will be prepping it to haul up north. Just spent $600 on trailer springs and general brake/bearing maintenance. The springs were shot and in no condition to even carry the C25 100 miles back home. Now to lighten up the boat, ie, get all the crap out of it and make repairs on rigging, rudder, and get the hull sanded and painted. Gotta go faster to be competitive.
Hi All, our internet has been down. We are in the San Joaquin Valley, we lake sail about 100 yards from the new UCMerced. It is a small lake that gets drained every winter, it should be ready for the boats by April. We take the boat out for a few trips every year. Try to do a Montery trip in October, but as stated earlier school keeps us from doing a lot of trips. I teach in the Jr. high, my wife at the local comunity college. We got the boat in the delta, it use to be based in Berkely, but the PO was transfered to Sac. He didn't like the commute to the boat so he sold it. I pre enrolled, and the family seems to like the idea.
The correct dates are Friday June-19 through Sunday June-21 The February issue of Mainsheet is incorrect. Originally, the C-25 and C-22 associations were going to have a joint regatta on SF Bay. Since the Mainsheet deadline (Dec-15) the C-22 association has rescheduled their regatta to Florida.
Sorry for the confusion. An updated NOR will be in the next Mainsheet edition.
Are you interested in registering for our regatta?
I see were the Catalina 22 region 3 Championship is being held in Jacksonville from 13-15 March. I have not seen anything on the nationals being held in Florida. Were is it being held in Florida, anyone?
Grrr. I just realized this is on Father's Day weekend. I was starting my wheedling, but now I know that I won't get anywhere with it. Ok, I might get out there, but appendages would be missing. I don't think I'll be there.
Any new news on th eregional regattas? No one took up my offer to host an event on Lake Simcoe, are there other events in the Great Lakes area?
