I have a 1984 Catalina Tall Rig and do not have a topping lift--just a pigtail. Does anyone know if a boom kicker would work?

Do you have a C25 or Capri 25? A boom kicker should hold the boom up when you drop the main, if that is your objective. If you have the C25, does your boat have a pop-top, and if so, do you like to use it? A boom kicker will probably get in the way and will need to be removed when raising the pop top. Some C22 sailors I know do like the boom kicker, but they do not have the pop-top.

Thanks, David. I have a Catalina 25 tall rig and did not think about the pop-top. Good advice.
