The admiral and I went sailing after the easter service and brunch at church today. A big storm coming from Memphis will get here tonight. Meanwhile, we had partly cloudy to overcast skies, winds 10-15 and a bit gusty. We reefed the main and put up the 110 jib and had a delightful sail, enough heel for me but not too much for the admiral. Sailed upwind and had a great run all the way back to the dock. We hope everyone had a good day today.

Sounds like a great day, it's beautiful sailing weather in the southeast, unfortunately we are in a garage doing maintenance. Next time we haul out in december, back in the water by Feb.
Sounds like a great day. We sat in Salty's on the Columbia River in Portland and stuffed ourselves at the buffet while watching a couple of sailboats. I had three plates of crab legs and shrimp.
Randy, Now that's living the life of a real salty dog! One of these days, I gotta break family tradition- Sitting around with family, eating ham and meeting my son's yet another new girlfriend. Steve A
yepper... 10-15 from the east with gusts. Dying as the day went on but still plenty of wind to sail. Spent the night on the boat Saturday night (44 temp low) and cool in the morning with lots of wind. Went out by 10am and stayed out till 5 pm and just had a grand time. 110 and reefed main for most am, shaking out the reef in the afternoon. First day I'd had to use a new reefing line I'd added.
And lost 2 sail stops overboard. (Dropped One each = Me one and glrfrnd One) Bought two more and I'm gonna drillem and add lanyards.
You know, I spent a lot of time working on boat stuff on Friday, but hardly any time for the rest of the weekend. It was good to take time to be with family doing family stuff.
My FIL has very little interest in anything sailing, but loves world travel, and as he is planning a trip to patagonia and Antartica, I loaned him "Two Against Cape Horn" which is a dated, but interesting tale of sailing through Patagonia. He read it and was deeply interested. Now my MIL is reading it. Before we left he had asked if he'd be able to join on one of our sailing adventures this coming summer. I don't know what th eright words are, but I was really touched that he had taken the time to read the book, and that he had asked about coming out on Iris.
Obviously we never got near the water all weekend, but to me that was a sailing success.
Sunny and in the 60's on the Chesapeake. Wind from the west at 20 with gusts to 25 or so. Reefed main and storm jib. Very pleasant, cool weather spring sailing.
Sailed the first time with my new balanced rudder, and there was very little weather helm under these conditions at moderate to large heel angles.
Dave H., Be on the lookout there at Carlyle for Dennis Bardle, from St. Louis. I suggested he look you up. He recently purchased a C-25. We drove by Carlyle a few weeks ago on our way back from Kansas City, but everything was still packed away in winter storage. Dennis said you've got the docks back in the water, and are getting things set up for spring sailing.
