Hi everyone,

I've been cleaning sails today, and I took time to measure both of my headsails. One of them is a 110%, but the other I'm not sure about. Here are the dimensions (I could be an inch or two off on each):

Luff 28'8"
Leach 26'4"
Foot 14'10"

Is it a 135%?

Thanks for the help!

Buzz,

The percentage is based on the boat's J dimension of 10.5'. Measure from the clew of the sail to the closest point on the luff to determine the luff perpendicular(LP) measurement. Divide this measurement by the Catalina 25's J measurement(10.5') to determine the size percentage.

For example, if your luff perpendicular measurement is 14.8', then 14.8' divided by 10.5' = 1.41

So if your sail's LP is roughly 1.4 times that of the J dimension then it would be a 140 percent.

Thanks Don!

I didn't know that's how the calculations were made. I just did a quick measure, recalculated, and I came up with 137% ... so, I suppose it's a 135%.

Thanks again!

Okay, now there is another idea for the website: a place where one can go to find just this sort of information. Where would we put this or should there be a specific location?
Whatever happens I will print this out and store a copy in my C25 manual.
Thanks Don
