Saw that... Apparently the tug was docked--maybe unlit. Lotsa questions yet to be answered. Lotsa grief, blame, and guilt will be coming out of it.
As a kid, I often visited Lake Geneva in Wisc... It seemed like every year at least one boat, running at high speed along the shore at night, would hit a dock and kill somebody.
Hmmm, there's new dock still under construction and a tugboat tied up to it. Seems to me that it would be prudent to display a light or two on a new obstacle like that.
Very sad story, but how about a few facts: the intercoastal runs N/S, it was still daylight, and the power boat hit the tug going eastbound fast enough to go thru the control room into the engine room of the tug. It will be interesting to see what comes out of the investigation now that the NTSB has seven people here to take over the procedures.
