While on vacation someone swapped the lens of my bow light. Got a new light from West Marine but the mounting holes did not match. Can someone tell me if I can replace the lens or do I have to replace the whole light? Also, does it have to be from Catalina or is there an off-market brand I can get? Thanks for any help.
George, Welcome to the forum. You should be able to replace just the lens, but it depends on what year your boat is (I think). I believe that Catalina used different manufacturers in different years. My 1997 C-250 uses Aqua Signal series 25 fixtures, I think newer boats use Hella lights (newer owners will chime in soon). You can buy replacement parts from West Marine and other parts places like Defender.
If you can tell us what year your boat is, we can help you figure it out.
Dave's got it. It is either a Hella or AquaSignal. Catalina uses both manufacturers. If you still have the unit check to see which maker it is and see if it lists a model number too. Then either replace the whole unit (probably the easiest route) with the same model or try to obtain parts.
Which replacement did you get from WM? That will make a difference. If you had a Hella and tried to replace with a Aqua Signal the holes will not match and vice versa. That is what I did since the Aqua Signal was $9.00 cheaper. All you have to do is take off the lens put the back plate against the mount mark the holes then drill for a 1/2 inch #10 round head machine screw. Coat the screw with vaseline, get a stubby phillips and go to work.

George, the light fixture itself should have a name on it - either Hella or Aqua Signal. I don't know which they put on the 2008. If you know which one then you should be able to get the exact replacement at West Marine.
