I've not seen the picture before, but I think recognize the waters. I'm sure it's a picture looking west on the Great Salt Lake. It's taken from the observation deck at the Great Salt Lake Marina, a very popular place to take sunset pictures. The rocks in the foreground form the marina breakwater. I'ts take with a telephoto lens that brings the Stansbury Mountains in closer. From the snow on breakwater and the mountains, it's probably taken in early spring (we sail year 'round, no freezing). The haze on the water is from one of our cold weather temperature inversions. I don't recognize the hull number, and I can't read the boat name, but there are about 300 slips here, and several 25's.
Using the link included with the pic address, it seems that the pic was taken by visitors to the Great Salt Lake rather than the owner or friends.

So I took a qiock little trip out to the great salt lake recently and I saw this beautiful scene and was lucky enough to capture it. I just thought I would share it with you."
Randy; Yes, in fact, the boats do float higher in the water! The top of the waterline on my boat is about 3"-4" out of the water. The salt content changes the way the water behaves. For example, since the water is denser, I takes longer for waves to form when the wind is blowing, and when they do form, they hit your boat harder.
Here is a cell phone shot of the sunset last night.
