Several owners have asked about making their tillers shorter. I will avoid the obvious comments. Here is what I did. It works great and I am really happy. I used some 1/2" scraps of sea board, some longer bolts and needed to experiment a little with spacing to allow for curve. If you don't have a tiller pilot pin you will need to add a bolt in the same place to keep handle from sliding out the back door. I use with the pilot a lot and this frees up the cockpit. TJ No damage, drilling or cutting slide and lock at any point works with tiller pilot
Nifty idea for a retractable tiller but I would bea bit concerned about the weakened stress points on the tiller assembly in heavy weather and following seas.
