Turk - took mine out yesterday. It was the end of my 2 weeks vacation, now its back to my job from hell (lotsa travel). I'm a rookie so I was thrilled the haulers could fit it in my yard....its 5 feet from my bedroom window, so its kinda cool. Spend an hour in it last nite on the stands in the rain having a pop reminiscing about sailing this season....kind of fun.
Next, the planning for off-season upgrades begins!
I like Columbus Day weekend, usually around Oct 12, as the last gasp of the sailing season. I'm planning an overnight.
This year, I will be using the "economy winter storage", so I must leave the slip before the 17th.
Too bad we've had so much rain this summer in the northeast, it hardly got going before it was over. But, as they say in Chicago, there's always next year!
Actually, as soon as the Georgina cup is done (next weekend) I'll be doing the same. <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">
They lowered the lake pretty far this year and we have not had any rain in over a week. The depth of the water at the boat ramp is the determining factor.
I'm going to Lake Lanier Sailing Club this weekend for a C22-only regatta, crewing for a fellow fleet member. At last count, they are expecting 40 boats. Should be very interesting and a good learning experience. LLSC is home to several national champions in the C-22 class.
Autumn sailing is fantastic around here. There was a half moon and a clear sky full of stars on Saturday night on the hook, and Sunday was in the 80's with a 5-10 knot northwest breeze. Mmmmmm! Nice.
I'm gonna keep the boat in the water again this winter. We have bubblers in the marina. I'll pull the outboard and the batteries late December, but warm February or March days will get me back on the water.
A number of November and December days are cool and sunny, and the Bay is all mine!
