Though it isn't the off season here in Texas for sailing, other things are enjoyable too...and some of them are in season.
Last winter my son quiered if I'd consider a fall Big Bend National Park back pack experience. Sure, always intrigued by the out of doors...and any place the country deems to be worthy of a National Park has to be worth the time and effort.
Just got back....and for those of you who have back packed.... you know the joys and travails... and for those who haven't yet... give it a go sometime. Will I take up back packing for sailing.... Course, I guess going into the Grand Canyon would put those in proper order.
I did have a great deal of fun, the weather was great, saw some beautiful scenery, animals, and flora, enjoyed the great company of my son, and visited with several very nice people on the trails. And... three nights on the hard, renews ones appreciation for foam cushions of a V berth.
