I am relieved to know that I am not the only person that didn't know how old there boat was until coming here. The guy who sold me hull #2122 said it was an 86. Whatever

As you can see from the Owners list, it's apparently an '80. Key differences from the '86 are the fuel locker (or lack thereof), thru-hulls (or more likely "to-hulls"), stem fitting, and possibly spreader sockets. All but the first are upgradeable.

Very nice KiteKrmemer, that should give me a good idea what the finished product should look like. I don't have a center post (I do have the floor assembly), but I am convinced I can build something that would fit the bill.
Thanks again.

Hey KiteKraemer, where did you get the nice teak and holly flooring shown under the table area?

I got it at a place called schooner creek; I think the 4 x 6 piece was around $50.
I had to put it down because the original floor was quite flimsy underneath the post;
now the table is solid. Here's their link: http://www.schoonercreek.com/

BTW - I got the table from a unfinished furniture store-- its a kids table
-- the original table was WAY too heavy and big-- the new
one is only a few lbs and much more attractive)

Hi KiteKraemer
I like the clean look of your curtains. Could you show us how they are installed. I am redoing my portlights & then going to put something different over them.
Thanks for any help you can give me, Pat.

okay all, I'm sorry for the long delay but I've been out of town most of January. Now that I'm back I'll be putting the finish on the table and finishing the method I'll secure it.

I have the L shaped dinette as well and we almost always leave it down with the cushion on it. I was just thinking last night that I'd like to replace the table top with nice wood and have edges that hold the cushion in place as that is a problem, the cushion over the table always slides off when we are heeling etc.

Otherwise, I really love the L shaped plan, it's my favorite.

Kite, your boat looks great!

James, We also like your Pop-top arms, If you can will you take a photo of them and print the measurements to share with others? and where they are attached inside the coach roof. Much Thanks.
Kite, Your Boat is VERY sharp inside, Nice work!

No problem. Weather here is poor right now but I'll be down to the boat on the first sunny day this week and I'll dimension out the pop-top arms then. The table remains unfinished while I try to determine the best way to keep the leg extended when the table is down.

Yes. Hope this gives you an idea of the layout for the L Dinette. You'll have to excuse the pics as we are on the boat all the time so it is a bit messy.

Here you can see the table in the down position with a very upset Jackson.

Here it is with the cushion on it. The overlap sticking out is a yoga mat in an attempt to keep the cushion from sliding.
We honestly never raise the table and we are on our boat all the time. Just last Friday we spent the night on her again and we thought about raising it but didn't. I guess it would be nice for cards and eating crackers and all that. We just find it's a great spot for Jackson, our three year old, when we're underway, at least on the port tack.

here's pic with the table up...

Sink

Facing aft. We don't have a stove, a cooler gets much more use.

Head,

across from this on the starboard side is a hanging locker/storage area. On some boats it had a sink.

V berth.

Quarter berth

Peter, Looks great! I did notice one thing in your photos, The wing nuts and exposed threaded studs on the forward hatch, Mine were like that too from the P.O until I sliced my scalp on one while reaching for something up front. C.D. sells the replacement knobs or cut a piece of hose/tubing and cover the ends especially with the little one on board. Trust me those things are lethal!

I also replaced ours, and found the new knobs hold down the hatch even better then the original wing nuts. They have a little wider base.

Thanks guys,

Yes, what's funny, or I guess not so funny, is that the hinges for the forward hatch on the outer deck broke. I bought matching new 3 hole hinges from CD and the are just slightly off so now my forward hatch won't close all the way. I'm going to have to fill the old holes in with expoxy and re-drill. I've just been waiting for it to warm up a bit. We've had a major cold snap down here in the Dallas area, record snows etc. Today it's climbing into the 50's though. Thanks for the idea on the covers for the bolts.

Here is my new table. Really brightens the place up. It is made of pine and joined together. I am going to put a few more coats on the trim edge.

I think it has a great look with the knotty pine! I'm beginning to wish I had the other style dinette in my boat after seeing all the cool photos.

On another note, I still haven't finished my own table due to various delays...and excuses of course. Most of them are due to work and weather though.
I found my outboard had a broken bolt on the bracket that keeps it elevated out of the water and wouldn't lock in place or lower completely into place. It actually had a missing nut but I screwed it up trying to repair it....like an amateur...lol

However, I did completely disassemble and overhaul the alcohol stove so that it works great now. It used to leak and flame up but after using steel wool on the separate components, lubricating with vaseline and WD40, and replacing the shaft packings with two neoprene o-rings, it now seems to work out quite nicely. I used it to make hot cocoa last weekend.
(never mind the mostly gone pint of beer on the table behind it)
