I am putting a thru-hull depth transducer on my 25 capri... Looking at the hull the deadrise seems to be @ 8-10 degrees or close to it (located about 14" forward of the keel and 9" to port.) I see they have 12 degree transducer that will adjust from 8-15 degree.
So... the question to those who have them or have experience with them could you help with the recommendation using a straight shot or one with 8-15...?
One thing I forgot to mention was this is for lake sailing...
Thanks for the help, lee

On my Catalina 25 I've just epoxied the transducer inside the hull just forward of the keel. It shoots through the hull just fine. Far easier than drilling a hole. I have a 600 foot depth fishfinder and it sees down to 600 feet no problem.
Don't worry about the angle. In shallow depths it only amounts to a few inches different in the reading.
And Garmin has a small device that glues inside the hull which holds a small amount of mineral oil and a transducer. It also works great just forward of the keel.
Use a glob of wax from a toilet wax ring. The application is easy and it works well. Press the transducer into the wax so the "face" of the transducer id completely covered, then press the wax to the hull. Just don't knead the wax too much - you don't want to introduce any air bubbles in the wax.
I really appreciate the responses so far but I have no plans to install the "inside-hull" as there was already a speed sensor thru-hull and I plan to use the same location but, I have to enlarge the hole to 2"...
After reading many of the responses to other threads on drilling or not drilling I feel very comfortable using the thru-hull. I just did not want to make a big mistake on the deadrise angle. Thus the question using the straight or 12 degree transducer.
JimB, thanks and your right; it seems the distance would be minimal unless I was healing to starboard which would increase the angle or better yet, mask the angle to some degree... (no pun intended)
