For those of you with clear skies tonight there will be a "Blue" moon high over head. A "Blue" moon is the second full moon in one month and the last time that happened on New Years was 19 years ago and won't happen again for 29 years. Enjoy. Happy New Year
Yesterday's full moon was gorgeous here, but it's rainy tonight. I went across the yard around 10 pm for some firewood, and I looked around for the fox that was here last winter in our yard leaping through the deep snow towards our bird feeder! Didn't see him, though.
Night before last I took our dog out to do her business before going to bed. As soon as we were outside, she looked intently across the street and started making low rumbling noises. I looked over there and there was a group of 10 deer foraging in our neighbor's front yard. I know it was 10 because I counted them as they crossed tge next yard. A beautiful sight; they are so graceful.
We just got home from celebrating New Year's at a good friend's bar. When we left to go there, it was raining cats & dogs and we never expected to see the moon. However, when we drove up just now, there it was: "Blue Mooooooon, you saw me standing alone, without a dream in my heart, without a love of my own."...

They're becoming so tame around my marina that they graze on the marina lawn in the early morning mists. They weren't so beautiful, however, when I had to do a panic stop one summer night on Rt. #2, when they suddenly appeared in my headlights blocking both lanes of the highway in front of me.

I had a flight instructor that was landing with a student at night and just as they flared to land a deer that was lying on the runway (because it was warm and the air was cold) jumped up right into the prop. Knocked the plane around pretty hard but only did minor damage. The deer wasn't so lucky. I understand the tenderloin was pretty good though!
