My thanks to Dave Robbins for his info regarding National Sails.Any advice on how to configure a headsail would be appreciated.Have just bought a 1987 C 25 TM with a furling genoa [135? 150?]. I am thinking that a drifter would be easier to handle than an asym/spinn as I am solo 90% of the time. How would you recommend setting/dousing this sail? Does it come with a sock ,like an asymmetrical spinnaker? Thanks !!

My drifter is a 150% genoa jib that is made of 1.5 oz spinnaker cloth. You can see this sail in the photograph section of the website. I rig this sail just like I do a 155% genoa jib. My drifter is hanked on... you could exchange the furling sail that you have rigged now with the drifter jib. Or, you could simply set it "flying" with the luff loose. Remember that this sail is used only in light breezes (generally less than 7 or 8 knots. So, having the luff stabalized isn't all that important.
No need for a sock. Hoisting isn't any problem at all when set flying. Dousing the sail might be easiest if you did so with the drifter in the lee of the mainsail while running. That way the drifter would come down on the deck where you could use some bungie or sail ties to secure the sail in the short run.

I could use some info on this topic myself. I have a roller furling on my boat and there have been many days with lite winds that just will not keep my 135% full so I have been thinking about a drifter or asym. I would prefer a loose luff so I wouldn't have to take the Genoa off. The drifter or asym has to be flown out in front of the R/F right? So how do you go about attaching a block for the tack?
