It was nice all week, so of course it's raining today so I can't comfortably outside on the boat. I took a look inside and decided the fenders needed some love. Here's how they started out:
About halfway through: A little bit of Simple Green, a fair amount of Go-Jo, elbow grease, and a scrubby sponge made fairly quick work of them.
And done-dee:
I've got two others that had already been cleaned, but at least now I feel like I'm able to cross one mini-project off the list. Now I need to dig out my inflator to pump them up a bit. They're all in pretty good shape, but a few puffs of air won't hurt.

Well, I still don't have my compressor back from my friend and it's too much of a hassle to take the tank down to the gas station to pump it up. He's supposed to have it back to me tomorrow, but then again he said the same thing about Wednesday, Friday & today.
The Mercedes is a 1976 300D that's been in my family since it was new. My aunt bought it when she retired from Army intelligence back in the '70's. When she died, she willed it to her brother who was a union man from day one, so he wouldn't even sit in it. Something my aunt knew full well, but she couldn't resist getting in one last poke from the grave. My uncle sold it to my mom (his sister) for basically nothing, she gave it to my dad who was a Mercedes nut (he owned three different ones over the years), he drove it for a number of years before deciding he wanted a newer car, so he gave it to me about 15 years ago, and now it's Rita's car. I like knowing she's surrounded by a couple tons of good German steel and engineering.
