Just an observation: I've seen at least a dozen sailboats named Moonshadow... I'm guessing it's about the fifth most popular name after Second Wind, Wind Dancer, Irish Mist, and (groan) FantaSea.

Now for something truly original, remember this?

I need someone to invite me (and my 8yr old) to go sailing with them this season because my boat will be out of commission for the next several months. I live in GA and can travel to the gulf coast or Lake Lanier etc. I am good company and I will bring beer/diet coke etc. I am a descent sailor, except for the time I ran over the sailboarder... but he had it coming.

I'm thinking of naming my boat the JOHN B. It is a sloop and my dad was John Burk. He helped me alot with my first boat a Starwind 19. He made drawers for it, let me store it at his house and anything else I needed. Sadly I never got a chance to take him sailing on my Catalina 25,but I know he is with me when I'm sailing.

Most names are good, just stay away from the bad ones, and you’ll be OK. Believe it or not, someone named there boat “Bow Movement”

My cousin used to crew on a J24 up in Rochester, NY that was named Bow Movement. It wasn't his boat, just crewed.

Looks like you went with "Brahma Fear". Good choice.

In light of your impeccable taste in music, boats, and beverages, you and your offspring have an open invite here on the Chesepeake if you find yourself around the DC/Baltimore area.

I understand how the skipper could save money with a name like that. There probably is little demand for the owner to supply “Crew shirts and jackets” for his crew

Actually, I think that group of guys really enjoyed the name from the stories I've heard. It was a real head turner when they sailed in and out of the yacht club.

I knew when I typed that there was something I was missing. Just had that feeling I was missing something but couldn't figure it out.

It just dawned on me! That was not what I was thinking when I wrote it. I meant the name made everyone turn and look!

Are jetskis ever "in season"? I wish you had to have a license to ride a jet ski. They buzz like flies on a nearby lake in summer.

I do not like "joke names" or puns for boat names. They shame the boat and bring on bad Karma. Neptune will treat Jokes accordingly.
