I have just purchased a 1981 Catalina 25. I have many years of powerboat experience but have never sailed. The boat has basically been stored indoors for the last10 yrs. and appears to be like new from my grossly inexperienced perspective. Today i have stumbled upon this website and I cant believe the info. available about this boat. Apparently it's quite popular. Is it possible to find more of the questions and answrs that have been posted previous to the ones on these pages? Any and all comments are appreciated,I am entering unknown territory! Thanks!

Search specific topics in the archives by clicking the "Search" button in the upper right corner (next to "FAQ").

In addition to the Search feature, you may or may not have noticed the "Show topics from..." drop-down list at the top of the topics list page, and the page list that takes you to more topics from earlier dates.

Also, in case you haven't found it, go to www.catalina25-250, the home page for the association, and check the Tech Tips area.

Ahoy John,

Congratulations and Welcome to the club! <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle> Since you are new to both sailing and the C25, I just want to say how lucky you are to have selected this particular boat in which to jump into this sport. From sailability to parts support, the C25 is at the top of it's class. Additionally, and most importantly, these forums here at the C25/C250 National Association are second to none when it comes to finding answers to questions about these boats(It seems that everybody has either "don't that" or is planning to).

Anyway, again welcome aboard and don't be afraid to ask questions because that's why this forum is here. It also gives us "on the hard" northern sailors <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle> something to do.

John,

Did you have the boat surveyed by a marine surveyor? When buying a boat this size or bigger it is often a good idea to have a pro look at and give "his" opinion on the condition. As a result you would have an indication of projects you might to to do, and that would provide you fodder for participation in this forum.

The C25 is a great boat, hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
