Just moved to Sayville on the south shore of Long Island. have seen a lot of 25's out and about. Best places to sail, where to watch out and who's got the coldest beer!
Welcome to the Great South Bay, a really great sailing venue. The coldest beer can be found at Davis Park. It's a mile or so east of Sayville and on the southern reach of the bay. If you use the park you may also swim in the ocean, just over the dunes. Food and drinks are sold there and are priced as you might expect for such a location. Bug spray is a good item to tote along with you since mosquitoes sometimes rule. The water is thin in places especially to the west, follow the charts until you know the area.
enjoy

Thanks val! Went out last Monday for the maiden voyage. Saw 2 25's near fire island slogging east when the wind machine turned off around 6PM. Depth gauge said about 3' at a few places so i bailed quickly searching for deeper water. Coming from the north shore where shallow water is 30 feet, 3' is quite scary! Then the ferry traffic in Browns river was real fun!!!!!!! Hoping to go out tonight to watch the sunset
