There are a lot of members that were not around when I did a lot of posting. That was a period when I was collecting a lot of nice Catalina 25 photos. I have a gallery of shots that I considered the best for things like desktop photos and I put them here. I am sure others have stashes of Cat 25 shots too. http://gallery.mac.com/fhopper#100087& view=grid& bgcolor=black& sel=53
Frank, beautiful shots especially sunsets. Any photos with boats capture my eye. I am almost ashamed I liked, photographically, the Killer Shot at the end too. Steve A
Very Nice. Thanks for sharing. When is the calandar comming out? My cousin in the Air Force makes one every year for Xmas gifts from the shots he has taken all over the world, from Antartica to Iraq. He has been in since Regan was president and is kind of high ranking, been at dinners sitting near Petras.
I think it actually was, "G. D. IOR quarter ton design". I think the wind speed on "Kansas Twister" was probably 20 mph true with gusts to upper 20. I think he would reef at 25 true with that crew. After this race he ordered a 110 blade for the 05 Nationals and won. I like regattas 99 a lot because it shows the downward vector created by the forces at work as the boat copes with the forces. You can actually see that the waterlines are a bit submerged from the down force. The 05 Nationals shots, (plus a few additional shots), are here: http://gallery.mac.com/fhopper#100063&bgcolor=black&view=grid
These are a morning when I woke up before the sun and went to the middle of the lake to take sunrise photos. I probably took 20, these are the last two, just a couple minutes apart, the pink of the horizon gives way to the gold of the sun.
Frank, "Kansas Twister" ran a 150 or 155% in the Cheney nationals - a definite advantage to the short rig in that wind (23 with gusts). I couldn't run my 155% on our tall rig as I had the lee rail constantly under! We dropped to a 105% and got killed downwind.
Frank, very nice shots, I liked them all. However, I do have a question. The boat which is in the last two photos, did it right itself after that knockdown?
Todd, that is my taste too, beautiful. What do you take for your OCD? (The stored lines, lol.)
OJ, the picture of the runaway c-25 is from the Nationals gallery and yes that is our favorite member Derek's boat. Hey at least it is still right side up!
