I have recently started having a diver clean my hull. On the first cleaning he noted "several quarter to dime size bumps near the keel." I had her hauled out and the bottom repainted in March and the boatyard didn't mention anything about this. She is a 1981. Is this something to worry about
I agree that it's nothing to worry about, especially on a 1981 boat. That boat was built before the boat blister epidemic got peoples' attention. It could be blisters, or it could just be peeling bottom paint. In either case, dime to quarter-sized blisters aren't a big deal, and are easily repaired the next time you haul the boat. If you haul it for the winter, grind them out enough to dry them out. Then let them dry through the winter. Then, in the spring, fill them, sand them smooth, paint them, and launch the boat. It shouldn't be more than 3-5 hours of work.
