Does it have any special accessories or improvements that would warrant a higher than "market price"? My dockmate would probably discount 3-5 percent to move it fast.
Eric Yes, deal is done, boat is on the hard at Brownell Boats in Mattapoisett. Sailed her from Portsmouth RI to Mattapoisett last Sat (day after the storm). Saw all conditions (18ktNW with 15ft rollers outside of Sakonet Point, to becalmed in Buzzards Bay from New Bedford to Mattapoisett....go figure!)
The owners commented as we neared Sakonet...."..Ah Shucks, its ONLY blowing 18 kts at BB tower...." only! They love 20+ Boat is awseome.....now the waiting and paying begins.
That's awesome. You're going to have a blast next summer. I don't get out to the Vineyard too often but keep an eye out for me in Cuttyhunk!
I was out sailing on BB on the day of your delivery from ~4-6 PM. I hit that same dead spot. When I checked the BB Tower (BUZM3) the next day, 4-6 PM was about the only time the breeze wasn't up. Probably the same time you were sailing by.
I went to Cuttyhunk last Friday morning. The beat there was in 22-24 kts. WSW. The ride back at 3PM was in 28-30. Talk about a wild ride. If a Cat25 can handle those conditions, your C34 will make tracks. Reef early and hold on. Got a dodger?

Damn! - thought I had a unique one....not really I guess
BTW - whos got the guarenteed re-naming procedure...I've been burnt by this b4
google John Vigor and look for "John Vigor's Renaming Ceremony". I know on the Cape Dory board it is posted in the archived threads (John owns a CD27) and would bet the saqme in the Santana 22 assoc (he used to own one) and if all else fails, contact Good Old BHoat where he is copy editor and ask. It is worth it!!
"In the name of all who have sailed aboard this ship in the past, and in the name of all who may sail aboard her in the future, we invoke the ancient gods of the wind and the sea to favor us with their blessing today.
"Mighty Neptune, king of all that moves in or on the waves; and mighty Aeolus (pronounced EE-oh-lus), guardian of the winds and all that blows before them:
"We offer you our thanks for the protection you have afforded this vessel in the past. We voice our gratitude that she has always found shelter from tempest and storm and enjoyed safe passage to port.
"Now, wherefore, we submit this supplication, that the name whereby this vessel has hitherto been known (_____), be struck and removed from your records.
"Further, we ask that when she is again presented for blessing with another name, she shall be recognized and shall be accorded once again the selfsame privileges she previously enjoyed.
"In return for which, we rededicate this vessel to your domain in full knowledge that she shall be subject as always to the immutable laws of the gods of the wind and the sea.
"In consequence whereof, and in good faith, we seal this pact with a libation offered according to the hallowed ritual of the sea."
ahh but the devil is in the details -- it's when, where, how (and with what libation) you christen the boat . . . . and make sure all vestiges of the previous owner have been removed!
I thought the key to the process was to remove every trace of any identifier on the boat from its previous name, then do the process at the dock, offering libations to Neptune and Aeoleus.
Of course it also doesn't hurt to name your boat after the spouse of one of the gods of the winds. I figure if Zephyrus gets any ideas, Iris will have him in the doghouse for a week or two. Its worked OK so far. Oh, my wife is on the phone. I think I need to get groceries before I head home tonight.

I also thought that "Kestrel" was a unique name. When I registered the new boat info with the Harbormaster's office back in 1995, the old guy mumbled "another Kestrel?". I found out I was the fourth Kestrel in Padanaram Harbor!
Yup, we have a few Kestrels here in Mystic and Stonington. A less common name for the kestrel is "Windhover"--that could be my next sailboat, unless it's Andante... Oops--there's already an Andante here. ...and a Windhover. Guess I'll have to stick with Sarge. (It's a family story.)
Howdy - its been a year and a half and I am happy to report: 1) I have enjoyed my time with my Cat34, but 2) shes up for sale and I have agreed to buy back my Cat25.
....more to come later, but lets just say, there's something about a Catalina 25!
Lets just say, theres something to be said about keeping life simple, in many respects. The C34 is a great boat. The C25 fits my needs, economics and recreation plans going forward (and fits in my yard!!!).
Yes, the current owner has agreed to sell me back my old C25. He has moved up.
