Nothing too wrong with that if you leave the sail on all season and are comfortable with removing the base of the gooseneck whenever you want to remove the sail. Alternatively, you could cut a new gate into the kerf above the new level you choose for the gooeseneck. I'd seriously consider doing that--it might take nothing more than a Dremel.

Just an idea... Put the boom where ever you want it to be, Raise the sail. Yes it won't go to the top but is this so terrible. You do this when reefed. I see it as having a little less sail up top thus reducing heel no?

Okay, FWIW, the clevis pin that goes through end cap of the boom at the gooseneck is 24" (23.75") above the deck on a tall-rig - so we will only need to reduce the mail sail by 1' to raise the boom to a std-rig height.

Then all you need to figure out is whether you have a gate issue.

Per your original post, one correction. The Capri 25 main sail luff is 1 ft shorter than the C-25 TR main's luff, not 2 ft.
