By the end of september 2010, we had 122 owners registration records.
So far this month we have only had one new registration. I'm just pumping this issue, so here's a few hints to help you prep for getting your boat registered over the winter months. I know it's going to be cold for many of you, so do this early.
Before you pull the boat out of the water, measure the mast so that you know if your boat is a tall rig or standard rig. Look at the manufacuturers label to see if it's a Catalina 25/250 or Capri 25. While on the boat, if there is a valve under the lower cabin step, then you probably have a water ballast boat, otherwise, wait till the boat is out of the water, then look underneath and figure out if you have a fixed keel, a fin, a wing, or a swing keel (C250 owners call it a centerboard, I know, it's weird!)
Walk around the boat and see if there is a boat name (other than catalina), something like 'Just Kidding' or 'Did it Knot', you'll need the boat name for the owners form.
If you haven't looked up at the sail recently, you'll have to unwrap it so that you can see if it has a hull number on the sail, but if you look at the HIN then you can figure it out. The HIN will also tell you the hull number and year built. You'll have to ask your partner which year you bought the boat.
Take a look at a recent snail mail envelope so that you know your name and address, don't use it if the name is something like 'Our friendly neighbor' or 'Current Resident' that's probably not your real name, if in doubt, ask your partner.
You'll have to ask a couple of searching questions: was the boat brand new when you bought it, or did you buy it from a previous owner (or perhaps it just appeared in your driveway one christmas morning).
I think that about covers everything you need to get together to register your boat on our owners list.
