"It was devastating," Hayes said. "It's like the worst nightmare of a museum person.
"It's the first time it's ever happened" in the museum's 19-year history, he said. "I've never had anything broken into, never had anything stolen."

The trophy replica is worth an estimated $50,000, said Lt. Barry VonFange, head of the Wichita police burglary section.
