Happy thanksgiving! Hope everyone has a great day today, and a good weekend. A bit overcast here, temp 64 degrees to start the day, unusually warm for this time of the year.
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone had a great day today and are staying safe!
It's been unusually warm here the past few days. It was cloudy and 74 with calm winds at 6PM this evening, at 7PM it was 54 and the wind was blowing 17 gusting to 31!
We had some rain overnight. This morniong it was ~55F which is warm for a morning at this time of year. It is supposed to get colder throughout the day and wind up around 45F sometime later today/tonight. Not planning on boating today. Decided to come into work today as almost all in my Section are out and I'm concerned if we have any brushfires to put out/residuals from the day before Thanksgiving. It supposed to get very windy later and so probably would not go sailing anyway. I have to check latest forecasts to see if later today is really out of the question and also what is in store for us on Sat/Sun. Starting to think about my winter projects. I have new lines I bought to replace the halyards and I bought the new in mast pulleys/blocks for the halyard lines to replace the old plastic ones that are ragged looking. I removed my Sealand Porta Potti for the winter (just have to hold it in for those days I go out or use that emergency thing I keep in the cockpit locker - Probably TMI - LOL). In regards to the Porta Potti, that may turn into a small winter project. It has two issues - One of the clasps, the plastic hinge broke off. Sealand may have it as a replaceable part since the whole hinge slides off the base. Also, the push pump on the back of the unit seems to have a small sliver of a leak path where water/mist squirts out when pumping. I do not think adhesive, etc will work where the leak is located since the pump accordion needs to be able to flex quite a bit. The part may also be replaceable...but if I have to replace both parts mentioned, I may just buy another porta-potti. I'll check the availability/cost of the parts before making a decision. I gu8ess one thing that factors in is it is much easier to just replace the parts if they are available rather than buy a new unit that may have a different mounting configuration ...even though thatmay not be all that big a deal to establish a new mounting.
