Anyone remember the couple that refurbed a ~28' sailboat that was built in the late 1800s and was originally used to supply larger ships? They set off sailing to various parts of the globe. The wife wrote a book about their adventures. I believe they also authored several articles for Sail and/or Cruising World and won some type of sailing award.
I'm not going to be the one to point out that they are Canadian. I'll let someone else make that connection. I better edit this quick - she was from michigan, but they met and started their voyages from Canada.

As I recall, the 24' boat boat, named Serrafyn, was a Lyle Hess design, and they circumnavigated at least once in it.
I have two of their DVDs. In addition to their cruising boat, they have, or had, a boat that was over 100 years old that they kept, (I think), in New Zealand.

Not sure which boat was Thelma, but it was 115 years old when they parted with it in 2009.
"Storm Winds, Storm Lessons. 18 Nov 2009. By Lin and Larry Pardey ..... Lin and Larry Pardey have sailed together for 42 years and 180000nm. They currently split their time between cruising on Taleisin in northern hemisphere waters and racing on board the 111-yearold classic gaff cutter Thelma in New Zealand. ..."
