SWMBO has become less and less excited about sailing, preferring "anchoring" or "mooring" and using teh kids safety as her reason, especially since our boat is getting small for our family (now 2 kids under 3 and a 13 yr old).
you think I could change her mind on a budget of $12,000??
The Redwing is pretty, but it doesn't appear to be that much bigger than your C-25. Narrow beam, long overhangs (short waterline), lazarette behind the cockpit,... The Niagra looks smaller than the Redwing. If you're looking for something for an expanding family (and SWMBO who wants living space), I suspect you'll find a more contemporary 30' cruiser, such as the C-30 (with 2' more beam and 4' more waterline), will give you a lot more.
And they just put 15K loonies into the Redwing and are selling her for under 12... There's a lesson in there somewhere...
Give up the trailer and go C-30. My wife was in awe when we were looking at one. The older ones with the Atomic 4 or 11hp diesel are close to your price. The one I looked at in Port Clinton was considerably less, but my surveyor described it as sound and seaworthy now but not in a few years without some deck repair and all fittings rebedded.

He wants (or thinks he needs) a bigger boat. I'm just cautioning that this might not be one. But it is PURDY! If I were there (and I have no kids at home or SWMBO), I might whip out the checkbook!
Besides I can escape my medium sized lake anytime I want.
The allure of the Niagara is that its an oversized Shark. Sharks are damn tough to beat on teh racecourse, partly because of their PHRF and partly because they are good and fast little boats. A Shark feels like a can of tuna to sit inside though. The Niagara may give the same competitive edge without the tuna feeling. But of course I am thinking of SWMBO and the family in getting a bigger boat. Right?
And this is cabin fever. I know I aint buyin anything any time soon. I've been trying to convince SWMBO that I need a motorbike for commuting to work in the summer, but that is going noplace as well.
