Wow what a nice day. 8 to 10 out of the n n/e, 1 to 2, the breeze was chilly, but the sun was warm, maybe 65 degrees out there. Probably got 5 miles out. Here's a few pics.
A little wing on wing heading towards the inlet
This beautiful boat we passed in Ponce Inlet Marker about a mile out
Shrimp anyone?
Coming back in
Sailing by that same beautiful boat I photographed at the dock earlier. What is it? Anybody know?

That is a beautiful boat. We northerners think 65º is warm, but I know what you mean about the conflicting breeze and sun. The sun is so much higher down hear and it fells great, but so does a light windbreaker when you're shaded by the sail. After my overnighter, I spent the day cleaning and doing a couple of small projects, interrupted by occasional glances at a stunningly beautiful young lass relaxing on the dock in the 75º sun. I would like to anchor off Ft. Pickens area of Gulf Islands National Seashore and dingy to the beach if had brought my dingy. A friend borrowed it to go to the North Channel this summer and discovered that it had developed a leak (water, not air) at the transom. I'm not sure I want to try boarding and de-boarding for the first time with a kayak in 59º water, but I might.
Hey, Dave, nice pix! I bet you notice a difference now in the way Bamboo sails with the new UK-Halsey main, like pinching closer to the wind. I remember when I crewed with you a year ago that your old main was pretty baggy. Your new sail looks sharp!
Yeah it points HUGELY better John. Had a tough wind coming back from the inlet but was able to work with it much better than with he old main, LOVE IT.
Went racing today, again on my friend's C-22, along with one other guy. Came in first again! Feels great. Temp was about 70, winds were 18-22, gusting to 25. The boat was flying!. This time I got out my GPS. His speedo read 8.5 KTS at least twice today, 7.5 before we even got out of the cove, using the main and working jib again, no genoa. My GPS was reading .2 to .3 lower, but in MPH, so it seems we made about 7.5 mph at least twice today. I think his speedometer may need recalibrating. In any event we had a delightful race, and we had a great timeout there.
I too made it out this weekend. I was out last Friday with temps in high 30s-low 40s, winds were with gusts to 25mph. But I only stayed out for less than 2 hours since higher gusts were expected to come in and I did not want to push it me being single handed sailing and hypothermia water temps and all.
Yesterday, I was back out again. It was 39F with winds 5-10mph. Overall it was fine but had to motor back. The wind had decreased to less than 5mph and I had to tack making no headway due to the current and tide against me. Still, it was good to get out.
Hey, Larry, too bad you couldn't tske advantage of the warm weather last week - It was about 70 one day in the DC area! I was dreaming about drifting along in the warm breeze!
