I'm looking at a slightly used drifter/reacher with a luff tape on it. I'd like to fly this loose instead of bending onto my roller furler. Any reason why this wouldn't work? Maybe remove the luff tape?

leave the tape on, it won't hurt. It sure is odd for a drifter our size.

I agree, Frank.
Luff: 30' 1"
Leach: 28' 2"
Foot: 14' 7"
Works out to be about a 150%
By my calculations, the sheeting angle should be pretty good.
