<b>We are still looking for some one to step and host the 2012 Nationals. It would be a shame to let a season go by without a National Regatta. </b>
The 2011 National Regatta <s>will</s> <s>be</s> <u>was</u> held in Minneapolis, Minnesota hosted by the Wayzata Yacht Club on Lake Minnetonka. This <s>looks to be</s> <u>was</u> the most well attended National Regatta since Gary Bruner’s Fleet 94 hosted the Nationals in Oregon in 2004 that attracted over 20 boats from our Association classes. We wish them good luck, fair winds and a great attendance. Go to the Racing page of the Association web site; http://www.catalina-capri-25s.com/racing/racing.asp for information on participating in this years National Regatta.
Now it’s time to call for bids for the 2012 Catalina 25/250 – Capri-25 Association National Regatta.
<b>Our bylaws state;</b> <i>“Fleet bids to host the Nationals shall be submitted in writing to the Vice Commodore by June 1 for a vote of the Officers (Article VIII, Section B) by June 30. “</i>
If you have Association boats in your area, C-25’s, C-250’s and Capri 25’s, that enjoy racing and are willing to host an event that will attract members from all over, step up and make a bid to host the associations National Regatta. Hosting our National Regatta can bolster your racing season and will be a great asset to the Association. <b>Contact John Gisondi,</b> Vice Commodore at Peregrine85 @ gmail.com with your bid to host the Nationals.
<b>Regional Regattas</b> Not every fleet or group of association members can host a National Regatta but many of you enjoy racing comparable boats. The officers have approved “Regional Regattas” so that local fleets can host sanctioned regattas in their regions, competing with our members and promoting racing amongst our association boats. Hosting a successful “regional” will go a long way in making your venue eligible to host the annual “National Regatta”.
These are great opportunities for our racing members. Step up and make a bid for the Nationals or a Regional Regatta. Still open for bids. Thank you John Gisondi, Vice Commodore C-25/C-250/Capri-25 National Assoc. </font id="navy"></font id="size2"></font id="Comic Sans MS">
Don't shy away from the idea of hosting a National Regatta because you think it might require a big effort for a small group or club. If you have 3-4 local Catalina-Capri25-250s that will participate, that's a good start. You only need to attract 3-4 more outside boats to have a good event. Find a local club that is already organizing a regatta, and ask if they will allow our National Regatta to race in their event, as a separate start. In that way, you won't have to find race committee or race marks and equipment. It's much easier than you might think, and more fun and exciting than you can imagine. Get your bid in soon!

There are C25s that might attend at Brookville Lake and I think at Rocky Fork Lake, and perhaps in the Indianapolis area, and Ben Shremshock might be tempted to bring his boat from Alum Creek Lake, near Columbus, and we have an active member near Waynesville, Ohio and, of course it's hard to imagine Bill Meinert not showing up when it's in his neighborhood, as well as some other C25 sailors in the area.

Watch it buddy, I were born there. Usta go to the dump to watch bears when I was a kid, and I got scolded for sitting in the woods eating blueberries before dinner.

We should probably bring this back on topic soon eh?
Maybe we can bridge the gap with a stupid question.
Does anyone think Lake Ramsey in Sudbury would make a good host for the nationals in 2013? Science North is right there.
<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font size="2"><font color="navy">Then please step up and contact the boats in your area and organize it. Sorry to be so blunt but this is the first year in my membership (1997) that we have not had a National Regatta lined up by now. No one is steping up. This will not happen if everyone waits for some one else to organize the event. The Officers can only faciliate the event we cannot make it happen without a local group/fleet wanting to host the event. I understand what you are saying but I was trying to gauge the interest before I went any further. I'm in Atlanta, GA and wouldn't mind hosting the regatta if there is intrest. We have a few 25's at the club and many more on the lake. We have a great location and a very experienced member base when it comes to running big regattas. We have hosted many nationals before and have plenty of space. The water is up and the lake is ready for racing. Check out llsc.com or saillanier.com for info about us or look up lake Lanier just north of Atlanta. If there is intrest I will start working on my end to make sure we can do this but in sure the club would be behind it if we can fit it in. Reply here or message me yes or no and we can go from there

I would love have the nationals at Canyon next year. Just not this one. I bet Derek would love it too. I've seen a couple C25's in the YC next to me. Perhaps in a year or two Canyon Lake could host one. And definitely find a way to get Confetti over here to match up with TSU. ;)

I tried a few years back to evince some interest in a Nationals on Canyon Lake. I contacted every yacht club in Texas (figuring if the texans wouldn't come...) and I got a total of 3 "maybes"! It's the old problem of the C25 not being a good trailerable boat and Canyon Lake is way down South as far as the rest of the Country is concerned.
That might have been the case back then, but I just bought mine in 09, and I believe there have been quite a few newbies like me come up recently in TX. Isn't there one on your dock? I saw a few at the LCYC. I could see if they'd be interested also. On the map, there's seems to be quite a few forum members in the state now. I know there are others not on the map also.

If you want to shoot for next year, I'd be willing to help you out. I'd also have an adjustable trailer soon if someone close by needed it to get here.
Anybody on the Great South Bay on Long Island????? I've seen many C25's around....Always good breeze and I would think there must be a YC that could host....Just an idea.....

Actually that sounds like it would be fun! Gotta look into what the Admiral has planned for our vacation time for 2013 however.... I have a good triple axle trailer, but electric brakes so I do not ramp launch. Do you guys have a lift there?
Hmmm, my 150 died (delaminated to the point of no longer being repairable) this spring also, so gotta build a new one!
LCYC has a lift, but not for dropping in the water. Perhaps if there was another trailer to use locally.... There is also a mast raising system. Both of these are free to use.
