I know you hard core racers are interested in how we are doing with the "new" C22.
After buying a new 155% genoa (beautifully built by John Bartlett in Austin - who is at the Moth Worlds in Hawaii this week) and a new 2nd generation rudder (from Ruddercraft - cheaper than CD) we raced our Tour de Canyon on Saturday.
We won the start in a 5 boat fleet and finished 3rd after running about a 10 mile course, only seconds behind an ExtremeForce 25 on corrected time - he owed us a whopping 3minutes and 4 secs a mile!
Methinks we are going to be competitive...The wind started out at 12 knots and was up and down all day, finally becoming a drifter with gusts at race end.

I'm not one of the hard-core, of course, but it sounds like you're off to a great start!

I assume that's the X-Treme 25, which is indeed extreme (well under 2,000 lbs, much of that ballast in the deep torpedo keel).

Sounds like PHRF is around 85 (about like a J-36). I always wonder whether PHRF can accurately account for the differences between a sled like that and an "ordinary" sailboat. Maybe you proved it can. (How do you suppose he's gonna feel when he corrects out below a Catalina 22? )

Much like he did when TSU corrected out over him when he was racing a Colgate 26!
I had discussions with the factory in Holland over the Extreme 25. We gave it a rating of 86. Apparently there are only 3 in the US.
Actually, the only smaller boat I could not beat was the Holder 20. When the wind hit 15k that sucker would get up on plane and vanish over the horizon!
