I bought some 40' x 2' safety netting for kids and pets to attach around the cable railings. Has anybody here used this before or know of a good method for the bottom attachment. I was going to either run another cable through the bottom of the stanchions or attach a 3/4" x 3/4" aluminum angle to the outside edge of the deck and drill it out every 6" or so. Cable seems easier and cleaner.

I've seen people use "[url="http://www.strapworks.com/Footman_Loop_p/ssfl.htm"]footman's loops[/url]" for attaching the netting, but that's lots of holes you have to drill into your hull. I like the idea of the cable along the base of the stanchions, but how do you plan to attach the cable to the stanchions? I wouldn't mind doing this to my foredeck just for extra safety and to keep the foresail from dragging in the water when you're taking it down in a blow.

If I went with the cable, I think I'd have stainless steel eyes welded to the bottom of each. That would prevent weakening them with holes drilled. I have found some aluminum toe rails at West Marine. About $700 for 34'. $518 at piersupply.com. I'm going to keep looking into it. I prefer to go with the toe rail, but that's pretty pricey. I have to see which is safer for the kids.
