Changing from fixed to sliding gooseneck this year which will require the use of sail track boom stops.

The stop itself is aluminum and the screw is stainless. I can use blue Loctite to keep the screw from coming loose and prevent seizing as well?

I was just doing a search on Loctite Threadlocker (blue) and perception I get is that if you want things not to loosen, go with Loctite Blue. But if you want anti-seize properties , Loctite sells other products.

I'm thinking I can achieve both - seal the threads to prevent galling and keep the screw from coming loose. I found 3 stops in my hardware collection and the screws were seized.

Contacting Loctite today . . .

Loctite came out with a new product about a year ago - #243.

It has the same strength as the blue 242

Will tolerate some oil that may be present on threads

Acts as a lubricant to aid in assembly

Can be disassembled with normal hand tools - no heat required

Protects dissimilar metals from galling or seizing

I've got one of these -->> http://www.catalinadirect.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=167&ParentCat=122 and just removed my boom for the first time in a couple of years. Came loose with no problem and I sail in salt water exclusively.
