I'm not affiliated in any way with Garhauer marine, but am seeking opinions because last year I bought one of their outboard lifts, which was about 35% cheaper than the next best competitor. When it arrived I was STUNNED - I mean STUNNED, buy the quality for the price. Since then, I've bought a number of blocks and again have been absolutely stunned by the quality period, but especially for the price. Now they come with a 10-year unconditional guarantee and all of their stainless stuff just looks so great!

I've been using Harken before, which is fine hardware, especially if you're going for innovation and lighter weight. But I can't understand how Garhauer is able to produce and distribute what to me is the best hardware I've ever seen or used.

Any thoughts? Is it just nice looking and solid feel and will it fall apart, or is Garhauer the unique producer wherein you truely get great value and prices aren't jacked up for the "marine" market.

Would love your experiences with Garhauer before I replace all my 13 year old hardware with something much more spiffy looking and better functioning.

I've been pretty pleased with Garhauer gear as well. All of my turning blocks at the base of my mast are made by them, as well as both of the mid-ship's cleats and several other items. Unless I can find "better" stuff fairly cheaply on Ebay or Craigslist, I buy Garhauer.

I've found some stunning deals on Wichard gear on Ebay before, but they are very far & very few between. Usually you have to look between the lines (misspelled brand names are a favorite haunt of mine), or mis-categorized stuff so very few people are even looking at it.
