Pumped out holding tank last fall and put cap on. I tried to remove it this July to pump out the tank after long trip. We did not use head on the short trips we had taken, so there was no need to pump out. The cap did not want to come off. It was locked in place. Finally, after destroying the cap, it moved and came off. Corrosion on the threads. Replacement from Catalina Direct. Moral to the story... place anti seize compound on the treads. This was the original metal cap. The one on the water tank was plastic and came off without effort. What other items are out-of-sight out-of-mind on the boat?
Anti-seize works on metal, but except for our diesel engine, most threads get treated with Lanocote. Great for dissimilar metals and even for similar ones! Tef-gel is also an option.

I also use it on refrigerator doors and other places and have had a 2.5 oz. tube for a couple of years.
