Sweet! I really don't want to spend the money, but if my motor comes back as being "beyond repair" I was thinking of doing the same thing - either a 9.9 or 15, electric start, XL shaft. I look forward to your review! Good luck with it!

Yay! They're mighty fast getting those motors out the door.

Pretty sure thats the one Lonnie got....it's a bit heavy cause it's a two cylinder, electric start and long shaft...but it's plenty powerful, very quiet, and that electric start is sweet. Lonnie commented the only thing he wished he'd done was get the power tilt.....but he's got a C250 with an actual transom back there.

Here's a picture I took of him a few weeks ago....you can see the motor....

We were teasing him about the ferns he put out so he can find his slip......

I have the 9.8, electric start, 25" shaft. It works great and the prop seems to be buried deeply enough into the water to work well.

One of my friends has a 20" shaft motor on his Catalina-22 and finds that it is out of the water too often. He just upgraded to a 25".

I don't think that I'd want a motor heavier than my 9.8. The 15 seems like it would be overkill, but I also haven't had my boat out in rough seas yet.

I can't really see the point of 15hp, unless you already have one. 9.9 overpowers enough to give plenty of reserve for really adverse conditions. 1/2 - 3/4 throttle was plenty to face 6 footers with plenty of breeze on Lake Erie. The longer period waves of the Gulf were much easier.

I was going to allow the original vendor who failed to deliver as promised to remain anonymous. That was, until I received notice from my bank today that he attempted to cash my check - good thing I put a stop payment on it! Perhaps is was lost on a bookkeepers' desk, but it is a pretty small business and that is hard to imagine.

So for anyone in the Philadelphia / South Jersey area, I would avoid doing business with Monarch Marine in Delran, NJ.

Really? Months later...order cancelled...and they attempt to process the check? Sounds like a blatant criminal act...attempted theft.....of course, they'll just say it was a mistake...but I'd never buy it. My mistrusting side says they were trying to get away with it...use your money for a few months while you had to use the legal system to get it back.

15 hp is overkill on a C25, and likely a C250 as well. 9.9 is plenty of power for these boats.
