After doing the boat show Friday. I am pretty certain The C250 is the best there is in her class or any other boat out there under 30 feet.

IMHO after looking at The MacGregor, The Hunters, The Beneteau 311 and even the Catalina 270 I could not see anything ie. interior, rigging, standard gear, family usability that comes close to the C250.

The only boat I have seen that would work for me & my family is the Catalina 310. The cost of a well equiped c310 w/ trailer was in the 110k range. I not saying I'll never get a bigger boat, but I don't think there is one out there that can compete with the c250 and still cost less that 100k new.

Bryan,

Sounds exactly like my own analysis made in Spring 2000. I started out planning to pay $57k for a C270, dealer had the C250 sitting next to it. I liked the 270 better, especially the headroom, but for the $$ the C250 had comparable interior and all the same sailing. The C250 was a great value. Can't wait for it to get a little warmer so I can take her out again.

BTW, still enjoying your helm cushion - thanks,

JKEY

After owning a Catalina C250 for several years I looked at some new Catalina's, as well as Hunter and Beneteau. I bought another Catalina because they still deliver the best value for the money.

A nice thing about Catalina is that they listen to customer input without being arrogant about it (Beneteau). I found that Beneteau still designs their boats primarily based on what Europeans, not the American market.

Although Hunter is innovative, makes some nice looking boats and has improved their quality in recent years, their quality control is still very suspect. Read all the bad stories in their forums. Also, I'm not sure about Hunter's B&R rig. Boat's do have to sail down wind sometimes.

Catalina keeps their customers because they manaage to keep delivering the best quality for the price. Catalina has built customer loyalty with the C25 and C250 because these are the best boats out there anywhere for the price.
