Would like to know from some of you that have sailed Catalinas what you think of the water ballasted model.

I have been sailing trailable boats for 12 yrs.and swore I would never own a boat again that will not sail upwind.

Appreciate any advice.

The Catalina 250 centerboard model (water-ballast) points very well. What make and model boats have you owned that didn't point well? This info would help us better answer your question.

I'm a 250WB sailor, and in spite of those initial rumors...she sails like you would hope. Find an owner in your area from the 250 owners board and ask for a ride. you'll like what you see!

<b><i><font color=blue><h4> As the story always goes...there's good news and bad.

The good news is that the C250 water ballast does really well going to weather. It points well, tacks thru well, will tack thru well under its main only even when reefed

Hi Robert;
I agree with you, I would never want a boat that didn't have good winward performance. We have owned several fin keel boats, we now have a 250wb and feel that the 250 points as well or better than anything else that we have owned. We now

I just went out Thursday this week on my wing keel model in 25 to 35k winds to see how much adrenaline I could get pumping and she did real well. Running downwind with just the 110 jib at 6k. Went to Green Cove Springs city marina but after tying up to th

My first boat is a C-250 WB, never sailed before in my life, my only time out was with the previous owner,once. I read a lot of books and read a lot of "E" mail in this and the previous forums. We sailed all summer in Upstate New York, never challenging a
