Heading out at 3:00 AM Friday, 7/20, for our 8th annual Catalina Island trip. Plan on heading directly to Two Harbors with two of my three daughters. Picked up a new Zodiac 8’ -8” roll-up dinghy from Defender to replace the one I had which was leaking air and water. Appeared the original glue was giving out. Saturday I intend to meet up with a couple of harbor friends on their sport fisher to spend the day fishing. Spend the rest of the weekend snorkeling and hanging around Two Harbors and head off to Avalon on Tuesday where my “two daughter” crew will head home and I’ll pick up my third daughter. My sister is coming over for the day and will spend the day with us before heading home with my two daughters. Wednesday, daughter 3 and I are playing golf at the Catalina Country Club and then spending another day hanging around Avalon. The new Batman movie will be playing at the “Casino” and we will probably take that in. On Thursday, I’m heading back to Two Harbors for more snorkeling and to take in the hospitality hour at the Banning House on Friday. Will be heading back to Oceanside on Saturday. Total trip will be 154 land miles. I’ll try to catch some pictures but if it seems like work, “It ain’t gonna happen!

Joe, Can't wait for the pics. Sounds like a great time with daughters. My only one gets sea sick. I was hoping to join up but out of state family was in town. Don't forget to post.

I think we were moored behind you on our C-22 MK-II at Two Harbors. What a GREAT destination Catalina Island is!

Don,
I saw your C-22 back there. At first I thought it was a C250. The two are styled similarly. Being able to cruise to Catalina is my primary justification for absorbing all the expense related to owning my boat. I love to sail but the annual week long trip to the island is the icing on the cake.

Joe,

I see your with Fleet-7, I was not aware there was a Catalina fleet in Oceanside. Tried to get a C-22 fleet going down in San Diego, but didn't seem like there was any interest. We took advantage of joining the West End Cruising Club at Two Harbors. Quite a good deal, especially the unlimited water taxi rides.

Fleet 7's unofficial home is actually "L" Dock at Marina Village in Mission Bay but it has been largely inactive the past couple of years since the original members have all sold their boats or moved out of Mission Bay except for Mike on Mara I think. I joined Fleet 7 in 2005 after being invited by the Fleet. There was no residency requirement and membership was open to just about anyone who had a C25 and wanted to join. There were even Arizona memebers.
