I have had my boat on the hard for a while and have been repairing the "Catalina Smile" on the fin keel and basically getting it ready for a good bottom job. I knew that some rain water was getting into the bilge but did not realize that it was getting under the keel bolts and some other holes in the bilge. I used a hole saw to cut 2" holes in the fiberglass between the keel bolts to expose the wood core. There is a puddle there on the wood. The bottom is already sealed with Interluxe 3000 and I am waiting to apply the VC 17; in the meantime, I want to dry out the core and reseal the bilge and keep bolts. I tarped the boat so no more water; I have a dehumidifier in the cabin to get some of the moisture out. Is this the best method? I searched for a past thread but no luck. Any advice or leads to previous posts regarding moisture removal and the process of resealing keep bolts would be appreciated. Although I am selling her, I want to do it right. My thought was to dry it out, coat with West System Epoxy followed by Interluxe 3000, then apply butyl tape around the bolts before adding SStl washer, lock washer and the double nuts. Thanks.
