I just upgraded to the third generation rudder on my 250wk and it is a great improvement. Weather helm is almost gone, and steering is more responsive and efficient. Previous posts on this website have complained about the delivery time. I had no such

Ours arrives within 2 weeks of ordering. We will install it over the winter (we pull out 12/17) & can't wait for next sailing season. Any tips on barrier coat for the new rudder? We'll bottom paint it with the rest of the boat this spring, but I'm sure

I paid $174.62 including shipping and handling. I did however order it in April. It arrived in September so maybe I got the old rate. I got to use it only once before putting the boat up for the winter. It made a huge difference.

Just call the main Catalina number 818-884-7700 and ask for parts. If you are lucky they will answer.

The direct number to Roberts Butler at Catalina Parts is (800)654-2914. I would ask for him because he was very responsive.

Don't feel too bad about 2 boat units for a rudder... I paid 6 units for the new balanced rudder for our C-25, and 4 units for a centerboard for our previous Day Sailer. C-250 owners are getting a good buy--possibly because Catalina feels they owe it to

What is the difference in length of the 3rd generation rudder, WK versus WB? Nobody seems to be able to tell the overall length/width of the rudders. Is there a kick-up version? If not, is there some reason??

Can't answer specific length...but the 3rd is shorter. Catalina dropped the kickup rudder and did not support the kickups with a 3rd other than to replace with blade.

See comments in Gary's question on rudder for more info.
