I found these at a Camping World in Fort Worth. They are the same fixture that Catalina Direct used to sell to replace the old square fixture. At Camping World they had the square trim that CD supplied, however, I did not use them. I went to the CD WEB site and they no longer list them. LED Ceiling Light - 12v Interior
LED CEILING LIGHT - SINGLE - WHITE HOUSING - SURFACE MOUNT...Regularly $35.79 On Sale for Only $29.84
When I went to look for them they would not show up. I just ordered three more to finish out the boat. Hope to have my boat back in slip in a few days. I am building some new drawers to fill some unused space.
Once you have them installed, could you report back here on how well they disperse their light? One of my biggest complaints with LED's is the directionality of their output. Even with provisions intended to spread out the light they produce, most of the LED fixtures I've looked at still produce a pattern of brighter areas instead of an even field of illumination. These fixtures seem to use a wide array of LED's and a covering lens that's supposed to diffuse the output, but I'm still a little skeptical. Thanks in advance for sharing information that could benefit the rest of us; LED conversion is an important issue to those of us who use our boats at night.
I replaced all of my cabin lights with these last year. They're really nice! They disperse the light very well all around, plus they also have a lens pattern directly below the LED's to put a small spot under the light....for reading probably. The color is very white, but not overly harsh. Here are some pictures taken at night without flash....it's hard to really capture the effect of a light, but these fixtures really can light up the boat....all on for less than the cost of 1 incandescent bulb! (cost in amp hours)
I purchased the Dr LED fixtures for $70 each last year and they work great - one is on the port side over the dinette and the other is over the starboard settee. I still have 3 square fixtures with incandescent bulbs - one in the galley where I usually use my LED lantern, one over the head sink and one in the V-berth. I have tried various LED bulbs in these fixtures but they never satisfied me. Perhaps the CD fixtures are the way for me to go there - they are not critical spaces for reading or doing demanding work - so an inexpensive fixture that does the basic job will suffice.
Imtra makes a really nice LED strip light that is 2' long, about $40, and a whole lot of light for under 10 watts. It is very simple, just LED tape (you can buy reels of it from Amazon) in an aluminum extrusion with a simple lens over it, plus a power cord with a switch.
I don't see it on their website, but Fisheries Supply in Seattle sells them.
I tried a lot of the Dr LED lights, but found that a single strip of this stuff did a better job of lighting up our cabin. I just mounted them with double sided tape to the ceiling next to the pop-top, with the switch running down between windows and into the lighting circuit that runs by the hull/deck joint.
Sorry that I don't have a model number, but if you run across them it's worth checking them out.

The 2' ones are closer to $40 at Fisheries if you have an account there (many of the sailing organizations in Seattle include a discount account at Fisheries).
