The wraps are Turks heads on each end and simple twisted wrap in the middle. I've also put lanyards on all my snap shackles using the cobra knot. I use Tying it All Together on You Tube. His videos are very well done.

Boy, does that take me back. It was custom in the Royal Navy to dress up the deck support posts in the messdeck with 'Wraps'. Looks nicely done.
Because they had a fair amount of handling (drunken sailors grabbing hold of them after a trip ashore) they were often painted white. But the more decorative were multicolored and never painted.
John. Good approach. I use YouTube to get how-to tips all the time. My daughter got a new Mac so I searched for Mac 101 and Apple Macintosh tips. There are dozens of great short videos. Same was true for training some newbies at work on computer networking basics. They viewed about 4 hours of free training and could answer basic questions about DNS, MAC Addresses, firewalls, routers, switches, hubs, etc. Now I'm psyched - I've got Ashleys Book of Knots and have seen a number of turksheads, but viewing someone doing it in motion makes it come alive.

Yes his videos are the best. There is a video of how he shoots them always against black using vividly colored paracord so each strand stands out. I made the Turks heads at home watching the videos and making them on a toilet paper roll and took them out to the boat. The spiral wrap is simply half hitches all thrown the same direction.
