Anybody have experience with repairing or replacing a rudder on a Catalina 30 or larger boat?
There is a C30 in my area that I may want to look at, but the owner claims the rudder is bent. He also claims he didn't even know it until the boat was hauled out.

Any experience with this? Approximate cost?

CD sells 'em. (Yup--for the C-30.) You have to get a price quote from them.

However, I'm not convinced I'd want an HDPE rudder for a C-30.

C-30 owners have a members-only Yahoo group.

The owner says he got a quote from the Catalina factory, which is not that far from me, of 2000.00. But I wonder how difficult it is to replace?

Probably just have to remove a retiaing nut on the top side and drop it out the bottom but I'm just guessing. Problem might be if the shaft is bent up inside the rudder tube. Might be hard to get out.

If you're going with replacement - call fincofab.com for a quote.

Got my rudder from them and I'm happy with it.
